What Is a Class Action?
A class action is just a group of people together suing a defendant (like a company or group). For example, a group of dissatisfied consumers might sue a company because the product wasn’t as advertised. Class actions are filed against government agencies, companies, and institutions.
Can I Get Free Money from Class Actions?
You might think, well, I’ve never sued anyone, so how can I get free money from class actions? But if you purchased a product or service, you might be eligible to be included in the class action.
First, you have to find a class action. Then you have to verify that you’re eligible. That might be as simple as saying, Yes, I purchased this product. In some cases, you may need to provide documentation or receipts to prove your eligibility.
You should always be honest when you join a class action. If you didn’t use or purchase the product, then don’t lie. Doing so may be unlawful and could get you into legal trouble.
Once you verify your eligibility, you have to join the class action. You may need to fill out information such as name, address, email, and phone number. You may need to provide information about when you purchased the item or service and for how much.

Top Class Actions
This is one of my favorite sites to learn about class actions. They provide information about open settlements and current class actions. This company details how to fill out a class action online or via snail mail.
You can also sign up for their newsletter to be notified about new class actions via mail.
Class Action Rebates
Class Action Rebates is another aggregate class action site. They are similar to Top Class Actions, but I check both regularly because not all of their class action content is the same.
ClassAction.org
This site is another option for people looking for class action settlements.
How Do I Get My Free Money?
You won’t get class action money immediately. Once the class action is closed and the case is settled, members receive payment. If you’re eligible you’ll receive a check.
Be sure to cash your settlement checks right away, because they may only be valid for 180 days.
